Although the third generation of the Pilot was presented last year at the 2015 Chicago Auto Show, this Japanese automaker doesn’t take a rest. The new version of this model is almost finished and it could be seen in the market during 2016. As for the exterior, it won’t suffer drastically changes, although it will come longer and wider than previous model, while the interior will come much improved, with more space and some new tech improvements.
Exterior of new 2017 Honda Pilot
The exterior of the 2017 Honda Pilot will come with a few changes. The most obvious change will be its body measurement, so the new Pilot will be longer and wider compared to the current model. Although Honda Pilot is a mid-size SUV, this new model will come with three rows of seats and it will have a bigger payload room. At the front, the Pilot will get a new grille with new headlights. It will also have a big bumper with three separate sections of inlets. At the back, the new SUV is decorated in a more simple style. It will receive a large tailgate with a large glass area. The rear bumper will come covered with black plastic, unfortunately looking quite cheap.
Honda Pilot Interior
The interior of the 2017 Honda Pilot will share a lot of resemblances with the brand-new Acura MDX and it will surely come with a lot of improvements in order to ensure the comfort of the passengers. Some of the features of the new Pilot will be: a cruise line control, power attributes, touch display sound, Bluetooth, audio streaming etc. The things like a DVD entertainment, air condition or satellite radio, they will come as optional features. In the center console will be placed an 8-inch screen multimedia system Honda Connect running Android, while the rear passengers will have the pleasure to enjoy in a built-in ceiling 9-inch display.
The new 2017 Pilot will also come with a great deal of advanced safety functions such as: an electronic security command, front airbags, side curtain bags in all three rows, adaptive cruise control, back sight cam etc.
2017 Honda Pilot Specs
Engine wise, under the hood of the new 2017 Honda Pilot should be found a 3.5-liter V-6 engine. According to some experts, this engine will bring 290 hp and 267 pound-feet of torque. It will have a six-speed automatic transmission for AWD system (and it will be an optional), while for the FWD model there will be CVT gearbox. The gas economic climate will be improved thanks to Planet Dreams and VTEC modern technologies. Towing will be around 5000 extra pounds, although it could get some improvements before the car’s launch. The new SUV will have heating and cooling unit, which will significantly improve Pilot’s performance in snow and mud. The new Pilot should be able to reach from 0 to 60 in 9.1 seconds, which is 0.8 less than before. The EPA numbers are still unknown.
Price and release date
As for the price, the new 2017 Honda Pilot, with all these new refinements and enhancement should cost in the range between $35.000 and $40.000. It will probably hit the market in the first quarter of 2016.
