2016 Honda Greiz Review

China is the fastest growing market in the World so most car manufacturers are trying to get a head start by teaming-up with local manufacturers. Honda did this with two different manufacturers so they will sell two very similar cars under different names and with different price tags. One of these is the 2016 Honda Greiz which has been launched quite recently and it is expected to go on sale in the next couple of months. While the name may not sound like much, the car is actually based on the same platform as the City and it features a similar design inside and out as well as identical engines.

However, the Greiz costs more and it is said to be a bit more exclusive. Why? Well, it comes with a redesigned exterior which Honda says it will greatly appeal to the Chinese customers. On top of that, it seems that the suspension system has been revised in order to be more comfortable during long journeys without having to compromise on safety or feedback. The car has been announced to start at right under 80,000 Chinese Yuan or roughly $12,500 which is a very good price for what it has to offer.

Under its hood there is the same 1.5 liter naturally aspirated inline 4 as in the City. This engine churns out 131 horsepower and little over 110 lb-ft of torque thanks to a VTEC system. While it is not the most powerful out there, thanks to the CVT gearbox it is mated to, it will be able to be quite fuel efficient as well as relaxing to drive. A more powerful unit is also expected which would use a smaller petrol engine coupled with an electric motor.

Just as we said, the exterior design of the 2016 Honda Greiz is very similar to that of the City. We would even say that the two are identical, except for the front and rear of the cars. The Greiz features a new grille which is similar tot he US models, Xenon headlamps as standard with LED daytime running lights, a slightly more aggressive bumper and even new fog-lights. The back features a new trunk with an integrated spoiler as well as a new set of tail lights with a C-shaped LED pattern as well as a small chrome inserts between them.

Inside the cabin on the other hand, the 2016 Honda Greiz is identical to the City and there is not a single feature to differentiate the two besides the base equipment level. The Greiz comes with more air-bags as standard as well as a 7 inch infotainment system which is only an option on the City.
