The Acura ILX is a compact luxury car similar to the Mercedes CLA which has been released back in 2012 as a 2013 model. After two years of production it is about time for it to receive a mid-life facelift which will include a few upgrades under the hood, a slightly different interior which is said to be more comfortable than before as well as a slightly updated look.
Price for Acura ILX
The price for the car will remain very similar to that of the current model, so expect to pay 26.000 dollars for a base model and up to 31.000 dollars for a top of the line one. This may seem like a small price when you see for how much its competitors are going but then again, these competitors usually offer a lot more for the price paid.
Just like the current model, the 2016 Acura ILX is going to be based on the underpinnings of the Civic with a modified suspension and a modified engines which are going to be smoother than those in the Civic.
2016 Acura ILX engine
The base engine will remain a 2 liter aspirated inline 4 but this time it uses the new generation Honda Vtec which makes 170 horsepower and 160 lb-ft of torque which is a nice bump over the previous car. The 2.4 liter engine on the other hand won’t suffer any changes so it will still offer 200 horsepower and 170 lb-ft of torque.
The 2.4 liter unit will be offered with a 6 speed manual while the 2 liter inline 4 on the base car is offered with a new 6 speed automatic. Both engines are powerful enough for anyone but their behavior isn’t fit for a luxury car. The power delivery is sudden and not as smooth as it should while the 2 liter engine in particular is very noisy and quite annoying during long journeys.
The better choice should be the hybrid but this one lacks the power or the fuel economy of its competitors.
On the interior, the 2016 Acura ILX is going to receive an improved insulating system which even though it will add up to the car’s weight, it should make the journeys more enjoyable. On top of that, a new infotainment system will be available even on the base model which is a real improvement over the current model.
Its exterior will only get a few minor changes. The front grille will be replaced with a slightly rounder design while the headlights will now use the “jewel-eye” system which gets rid of the usual bulbs for a fully LED lit system. Besides this, the front bumper will be slightly modified with smaller air intakes that are going to make it a bit more aerodynamic and hopefully they will reduce the noise of the car even further.
