The 2015 Honda Civic Type R concept gives us a taste about what to expect about the upcoming hot-hatch from Honda. It will be faster than the previous generation, more powerful and also more fuel efficient. How is this possible? Well, Honda finally decided to ditch the aspirated engine in favor of a turbocharged one.

Just as we said before, this is where things will change the most. Honda finally decided to offer a turbocharged engine because their aspirated unit just wasn’t competitive anymore when comparing it with cars such as the Golf R or the Focus RS. The new engine will be a 2 liter 4 cylinder unit that will feature both VTec and turbocharging, so we expect it to put out at least 270 horsepower and just as much torque. This means the car will most likely be able to get to 155 MPH with ease and it will have an acceleration of just around 6 seconds to 60 MPH.
Transmission and drivetrain
Honda said that the transmission will be a 6 speed manual unit that will most likely be great. The previous generation had a very good unit that offered great feedback and it was really precise. The transmission will be coupled to the front wheels and will put all that power down with the help of a limited slip differential. There also might be an automatic transmission with manual shifting, but this isn’t sure just yet.
Fuel consumption also will go down thanks to the turbocharged engine that will have a much higher torque down the rev-line. Also, thanks to this, acceleration while in gear will be improved dramatically.
2015 Honda Civic Type R interior
The 2015 Honda Civic Type R concept looks a lot like the current model of the regular Civic with a few major modifications. Firstly, you will get much more comfortable seats that have better lateral support and are made by Recaro. On top of that you will get dual zone climate control, satellite navigation and leather upholstery as standard while a sun-roof might be available on the top-end model.

Well, if you liked the previous Type R you will love this one. The car looks absolutely amazing thanks to a much more aggressive body kit, a spoiler down the back and a set of 20 inch wheels with high performance tires. To put it this way, the car looks more like a touring car rather than a sports car.
